Mad Movie Review: A Laughter Extravaganza

The comedy genre in recent years has witnessed blockbusters like “Jathi Ratnalu” and “Miss Shetty Mr. Polishetty,” proving that when comedy is done right, it can be a guaranteed hit. Enter “Mad.” This film takes a unique approach, tossing aside conventional storytelling in favor of evoking laughter without much regard for logic.

“Mad” swiftly captures the attention of today’s youth from the get-go. It unfolds a hilarious narrative set in the backdrop of college life, replete with hearty laughter, ensuring two hours of unbridled amusement. However, as the story advances, the film’s objective becomes unmistakable. Director Kalyan Shankar briefly flirts with shifting the narrative in the second half but quickly returns to the comedic route, emphasizing that laughter remains the primary goal. While it may not offer profound subtlety, “Mad” certainly serves up a hearty dose of humor.

Narne Nithin, known for entering the industry as Junior NTR’s brother-in-law, impresses with his dialogue delivery and comedic talent. Proven actor Sangeet Shobhan yet again showcases impeccable comic timing. With Ram Nitin in the mix, the laughs keep coming. Sri Gauri Priya Reddy delivers a commendable performance, while Ananathika Sanilkumar and Gopika Udyan, despite having limited screen time, make their mark. Anudeep undoubtedly shines as a comedic gem, consistently drawing laughter from the audience. The rest of the cast performs capably in their roles.

Kalyan Shankar’s camaraderie with Anudeep appears to infuse “Mad” with a reminiscent spirit of “Jathi Ratnalu.” He skillfully taps into college life and elements that resonate with today’s internet-savvy youth, creating a comedy that genuinely hits the mark.

The music by Bheem is a fitting accompaniment to the film, and the cinematography by Samdutt and Dinesh Krishnan B, while acceptable, could have been more refined. In the end, “Mad” is an uproarious comedy extravaganza that guarantees a heartwarming laughter riot.
